Installation Notes for Wingz 1.4.2 ================================== System Requirements ------------------- - A PC equipped with an Intel 386 compatible processor. - 4MB of RAM for simple work; 8MB or more, for more complicated work. - 4MB of free hard disk space - Linux version 1.2 (ELF) or later with X11R6 installed Installation ------------ Decide which directory to place it, for example "/usr". Log in as root and enter: $ cp Wingz-142.tgz /usr $ cd /usr $ tar zpxf Wingz-142.tgz $ chmod 666 Wingz/.wingz $ rm Wingz.tgz This will create a single directory under "/usr", called Wingz. All other files are found below this directory, for a complete list, look in the MANIFEST file. It is recommended (but not essential) to copy the Wingz.Xdefs file to "/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/Wingz". This file also includes some recommended MWM resource settings. Running ------- To start up Wingz, the environment variable "WINGZ" needs to be set to the absolute path of the "Wingz" directory. For example: $ WINGZ=/usr/Wingz export WINGZ To start Wingz up, enter: $ $WINGZ/bin/Wingz Note: the evaluation of Wingz is only licensed for one user Help ---- On-line help is available from the "Window" menu. It is also possible to see what Hyperscript is generated to run commands by switching on "Learn mode". (See the "Learn command" in the on-line help for more detail.)
