- Maintening the code is getting a little cumbersome due to the number
  of compilation variants supported:

  1. gtk+-1.0.x	(Yes, I still support the 1.0.x series.)
  2. gtk+-1.2.x	(without GNOME)
  3. GNOME	(automatically implies gtk+-1.2.x)
  4. GLADE	(automatically implies GNOME)

  The only combination not supported here is gtk+-1.2.x + GLADE.  I
  will probably drop support for gtk+-1.0.x once gtk+-1.4.x comes out.
